LONG-STANDING South West law firm SLM Law will expand its services with the addition of experienced local lawyer Ann Cunningham.
Ms Cunningham has worked as a solicitor in south-west Victoria for more than 15 years and joined the team at SLM Law this month.
The locally-based solicitor has a strong track record in assisting clients who have suffered a workplace or motor vehicle injury and will continue that work at SLM Law with the assistance of her law clerk Christine Dwyer.
“I joined SLM Law because I was impressed by the firm’s culture,” Ms Cunningham said.
“I had come to know the firm’s directors over the past few years and loved that they were highly-skilled and professional while still being down-to-earth.”
Ms Cunningham is one of five solicitors at SLM Law and will work alongside directors Meagan Compton, Stuart Holbery, Rebecca Alexander and Shaun Moloney. Former director Jeff Thornton continues to provide advice as a consultant to SLM Law.
“I was excited to join a firm locally owned and operated and to be part of a team whilst still practising in personal injury law, which I love,” Ms Cunningham said.
“I’m looking forward to being able to see my Camperdown, Cobden and Apollo Bay clients in their home towns. Clients suffering work or transport injuries often have the burden of travelling to receive medical treatment and assessment, they won’t need to travel long distances to see me”.
Ms Cunningham attended Melbourne and La Trobe universities and holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in history and criminology and an honours degree in Law.
She said a passion for fighting for the underdog drove her towards studying law and continues to fuel her interest in advocacy work.
“I like helping people, I love a challenge and I need to be intellectually stimulated,” Ms Cunningham said.
“Law ticked those boxes. I also love to read so I wasn’t daunted by the amount of reading involved.”
Outside the office, Ms Cunningham is a current director and vice chairman of Cobden and District Financial Services which operates the Bendigo bank community branches in Cobden and Camperdown.
