SLM Law recognised last month as a top firm in Victoria for online property settlements

SLM Law has been rated fifth state-wide as one of the top firms to deal with in September 2019, according to the PEXA peer-rated firms statistics.

According to PEXA, a high score and overall rating “indicates that a firm is frequently marked by peers as easy to settle with”, and is based on surveys completed by other lawyers and conveyancers at the end of the matter. The PEXA website states that “the Peer Rating functions much like an Uber or Airbnb review and ensures constructive two-way feedback, helping encourage industry best practice and foster a smooth settlement experience for all parties”.

Those who have purchased or sold property since 2017 may be aware that the conveyancing process has changed significantly with the introduction of online conveyancing. While previously lawyers attended settlements in person (sitting down with the banks and other representatives to exchange cheques and signed documents) this process now takes place online via PEXA, where each party is invited to an online workspace, documents are prepared online and the sale proceeds transferred electronically once everything is in order.

SLM Law was an early adapter to the online system (before it was mandatory) and this move has meant that the firm has been able to work through teething troubles and ensure its clients benefited with a smooth transition.

“We are proud of our conveyancing team for being recognised in this way by other lawyers and conveyancers” director Shaun Moloney said. “It shows that our team is both practical and professional and it’s rewarding to hear positive feedback from not only our clients, but from people in the industry too.”

SLM Law can assist with a range of property law related matters including the sale and purchase of land, subdivisions and leases.
