Law firm adapts to help clients during coronavirus pandemic

Local firm SLM Law has announced a new service to support clients during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Drive-up” document signing services are available in Colac, Camperdown and Cobden to ensure people can attend to important business and personal matters but still practice social distancing.
SLM Law director Shaun Moloney said clients would be able to remain in their car during the process.
“They can simply pass documents through the car window to our team for witnessing,” Mr Moloney said.
He said the service would be available for the following documents which often required witnessing:
·         Wills
·         Powers of attorney
·         Contracts
·         Statutory declarations
·         Affidavits.
“Our staff will be wearing masks during the drive-up sessions and we’d also ask clients who take advantage of this service to also wear masks.”
In a pre-emptive measure, SLM Law shut its offices to the public on Monday 20 July following a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Colac. Although the doors are closed, staff are continuing their work and remain available to take calls.
“Unfortunately, one Colac-based employee tested positive to the virus. That employee had been isolating at home, took all the right steps, and had no close contacts,” Mr Moloney said.
“As a precaution, our office has undergone thorough cleaning. We are also pleased to report that all tests taken by our staff have returned negative results.”
Clients wishing to book a “drive-up” appointment can call SLM Law on 5231 9400.
